Description
A day around Buttermere, Derwent Water and Keswick.
We will meet at 7.00am at Lakeside Car Park Keswick. We’ll then head over Honister Pass to Buttermere to capture some early morning light and possibly a sunrise around the ‘Lone Tree’ or the Scots Pines ‘Sentinels’ on the South Eastern shore. We’ll spend some time around the shores of Buttermere before heading to Croft House Farm Cafe or Sykes Tea Room for a drink and a snack.
We’ll head back over Honister, perhaps stopping at the hamlet of Grange where we may get some shots of the bridge and river, followed by a visit to Ashness Jetty and Surprise View. After we have admired the stunning views from Surprise View we’ll head back up to Keswick for some shots of the submerged fence and the piers and boats, and if there’s time a short walk up to Latrigg.
There is some walking but we will use the car where possible to move between Keswick, Buttermere and Surprise View.
This will be a fairly relaxed day, although the day will pretty much cover the locations listed a certain amount of flexibility is required to take into account weather conditions, car park availability, and perhaps even just enjoying a location. Group opinion will rule, if you want stay longer at a location at the expense of somewhere else or substitute one location for another, then if everyone is happy that’s fine.
If you are coming along specifically to visit a particular location in the itinerary let me know in advance and I’ll try to adjust timings and route to make sure it’s included, or if you would like a small detour to somewhere not on the itinerary, let me know and we’ll try to accommodate it.
